wheel alignment & big rims..?

Featured Replies

Ive been noticing that the outer edges of my tyres are wearing down faster than the tyre as a whole.

would this be due to too much camber and or caster?

can you adjust camber And caster on the superb? front and rear?

what other parts could cause the tyre edges to wear?

also when going for laser alignment, is there anything i should be aware of regarding alignment equipment? whats the best out there? i ask as i went to one place a while ago and they couldnt do it due to the car being Low? strange i thought!

does anyone know of any places in the nottm or derby areas?

You could try Ez shims on the rear axle to correct anomalies pretty cheap to buy and easy enough to do. Or follow Basil's thread how to do it. Might be caused by just the geometry out a bit. Link for the shims, http://www.venommotorsport.com/contact_us.php

Without tryng to state the obvious what did you check the tyre pressures with?

Also try a different pressure gauge just to check as that step is a whole cheaper than geometry checking.

First thing to do would be to check tyre pressures. Over inflated tyre pressures cause the centre to wear more, and I believe under inflated tyres cause the outsides to wear more.

We think as one.

We think as one.

Lol indeed!

as you say under inflated causes the outside edges to wear quicker! but wouldnt both inner and outer edges wear? where as mine is just wearing on the outside.

Yes under inflated tyres would wear on the outer edges (I did not read your post closely enough  ), though I would still check the pressures.
