maintaining the intercooler

Featured Replies

I was recently servicing my Fabia vRS SE when I noticed the state of the intercooler. Ever since I've started doing my own service the lower pipe always looks oily and "leaking". This is also the same on my mum PD100 fabia.

Whilst it may be normal it got me thinking about maintaining the intercooler and what servicing is expected for it.

Now I've read the guide for cleaning one out which is fine however how can one stop the build up in the first place? Will an Oil Catch Can work and if so do they make a fabia kit?

I'm just at the end process of making a complete breather kit which should make there be less oil mist in the air - therefore less in the intercooler. First one is on my car right now - just seeing how quick the tank fills now!

Would be interesting to see the results. Can you keep the engine cover on with the new kit?
