Hi All,

As the title udate suggests, it's gonna be Sharked in the next few days!!!! I decided to take up Rob at W8's offer of a second hand STS unit along with a remap last night.

It suits me down to the ground as I'm miles away from the nearest Shark tuner, plus I can put it back to standard if need be. I must say that Rob, even though it was late at night, replied to my pm's promptly and gave me the confidence to remap the occy. Many thanks to him.

I can't wait to see what the difference is over a standard map, which to be fair I'm pretty happy with anyway.

This will be an indulgence that hopefully will put a smile on my face!!

Guys,

I've had over the last (insert many years) 'hot hatches/fast cars' from golf gti's, rs turbos to imprezas, a few choice family cars and 4x4's.

Even with my long history, I have never remapped a car before.

This said, I thought the vrs was pretty decent in standard form. I liked it that much that I'm onto my second one as I don't believe for the money you can buy a better load lugger, family car with a bit of poke.

I have been proven wrong!!!!! It's now frickin awesome!!!!

Tonight my Shark map courtesy of W8 Performance winged it's way into my inbox, and after 20 mins I was now the proud owner of a demon.

I know there are a lot of cars on here that are way in advance of this one, and credit to you all, but for the money this has been a revelation!

I didn't want to give it too much on the B roads where I live tonight as my 8 year old was co-piloting, but I'm still grinning whilst writing this!!!

I would recommend this mod to anyone!!!!!!

Even more so, Rob @ W8 Performance has been excellent. He sorted everything out, even answering texts 'after hours'. In this day and age it's great to deal with a company who give such brilliant customer service.

Cheers for reading!!

Just thought I'd post a couple of pics up, decided to change the colour of my induction pipe that was orignally 'Gee' green

Just trying to make it look sort of standard-ish.

Also got some of these, inspired by my 7 year old :giggle: :

Love the look bud. Great job. Out of curiosity, how easy is it to get the bump strips off. I'm painting mine but was just going to leave them on. If they come off then it's going to be easier.

Thanks for the comments, the bump strips come off quite easy. Just use a flat blade screwdriver at each end and they unclip. You will probably have to remove the front number plate.

Hi All,

The bad weather has hindered progress on my build thread, but a spanner in the works came in the form of my wife burning the clutch out in the snow the other week. :(

Pretty gutted as its a big outlay, haven't really got the space to do it myself so I've had to book it in to a local VAG specialist.

Whilst its in I'm having the rear beam bushes done as well as I think they're knackered. Car seems to be very twitchy on the bumpy roads across the moor that I drive every day.

Gonna cheer myself up today with a monster cleaning session. ;)

It's staying standard apart from changing to a solid flywheel. Thought about an upgraded clutch but for what I'm running it isn't worth the extra cost.

You going to the meet at the metro centre 10th March?

Well, yesterday didn't go quite to plan with the clutch replacement. The garage rang and said they had been misquoted on the parts price and wanted to try and squeeze another £120 out of me. Needless to say I wasn't impressed.

After a bit of ringing around I got the price down by £110 for the full clutch and solid flywheel including the labour at a place more local to me. That also includes doing the rear beam bushes as well, a job which I wasn't looking forward to doing!

On the up side I won a mint black carpet from a golf for £23 so well chuffed with that. I know what I'll be doing on Sunday.

Cheers

Lewy

Well it's been a while, so thought I'd update.

Clutch and rear beam bushes are sorted, can't believe how knackered the old ones were. Drives like a dream now!!!

Also, seeing as the weather has been so cr*p I got around to fitting my black carpet today. Much improved over the white one.

White one on the way out, complete with coffee stain.

All out and cleaned up.

New one fitted and I'm well pleased. Skoda should have fitted black from new!!
