instrument cluster repairs

Featured Replies

my 99 tdi wagon has finally suffered the dreaded clock failure, even with fuse 15 taken out. its been fine with the fuse out, up until recently, where the needles now just sit dormant doing nothing, and very occasionally will twitch around, generally just too far gone to put up with now

i know theres loads of threads on this, but im struggling to find a thread with definitive answers on where people have taken their clocks for repair, if its successful and cures it permanently, costs involved, and turnaround time etc

id rather not throw loads of money at it, and i definitely cant really afford to send the clocks away and my car be off the road for however long it takes, im self employed and this is my work vehicle

so, anybody got any contact details of reputable places that could carry out the work, preferably in the midlands? all the main answers on google are norfolk way or on the south coast!

cheers for the suggestion there dude

i gave them a call, and sadly they were a bit too pricey for what i really can justify spending, but iv found a place called cartronix that can turn it around mega quick for me, and rebuild and test them for 80quid plus postage, and give them a 2 year warranty. the guys there must get plenty of these in for repair, because he reeled off all the bits they replace and repair off the top of his head in an instant lol

will update and let people know how the si****ion turns out. hopefully its a good job, im back to having normal working clocks, and then everybody has another reputable contact to add to their favourites menu incase in inevitable happens to their clocks too

One method that I have tried is to clean the terminals that the fuses plug into using a paper nail file. A freind of mine had the same issue and after using this method it solved it and this was on a Vauxhaul Corsa.

Dirty contacts usually is to blame. Hope this helps.
