2011 vrs wheel alignment

Featured Replies

Just noticed that my rear tyres are suffering from the dreaded feathering in the inner edge. Bought the car second hand from the dealer with 21k miles on it at end of April. Tyres looked brand new at that point - think they had replaced them. Its now on 29k miles and inner edge is bald!! I know from looking about on here it seems to be a common issue with all models of octavia. Couple of questions :

Is it best going to skoda dealer or an independant to get this checked?

Has anyone successfully claimed under warranty for this - I'm thinking they'll say its down to wear and tear plus the fact its now on 29k miles.

Lastly does anyone have suggestions of somewhere good in the glasgow area to use?

Get it done at a place that has a hunter rig, do not let dealer"Fix"

I picked my last car up with 10k on the clock. Rear tyres were some in less than 6k and the dealer (Adamsons of deal) were very helpful. They got it sorted at a local specialist and put some new tyres on (admittedly 'mabor' rather than the bridgestones which had been on it but they lasted forever with no problems regards performance so all is good)

So - go to your dealer as they might sort it out. Don't let them try to fix it themselves though (unless they have the proper equipment) and don't lett them send it down Kwik Fit or such like.....

The dealer in Glasgow ( Henry's skoda ) has the latest hunter equipment. They got it installed last year when I ordered my new vrs.

Oh god, this....

Most dealers don't have the kit to fix this. I'm currently having fun with my dealers over this as I'm onto my 3rd set of rear tyres due to this issue after they were meant to have sorted it before.

I now know they're meant to take it to the local Audi to sort as they have the proper kit. As BlueVRS2 says, go somewhere that has the proper kit and make sure you get a printout to show what they've done.

Apparently revised rear camber settings were issued by VAG to sort this but it would seem NONE of the cars got this from the production line. Bloody stupid.
