Bluetooth, Bolero & Maxidot problems.

Featured Replies

I've just been trying with VCDS to code in a retrofit Bluetooth module (5K0 035 730 D) in a 2009 Octavia LE without MFSW.

Initially BT module was working even though it was not in the CAN installation list. Corrected this quite easily and set up other options in 19 - CAN, 77 - Telephone and 56 - Radio.

All good and working except three relatively minor 'problems' and one very annoying one (biggie first):

  1. The Bolero (1Z0 035 156 F / FW 0054 factory fitted) jumbles the contacts and gets random characters on the display, won't show correct numbers against the right contacts, etc. Really random, but I have read somewhere about others experiencing this problem, but no solutions that I can remember or find;
  2. The Maxidot controls the BT module fine (but the Bolero doesn't - see above) but the phone numbers appear in a non-British format (e.g. 016-177-*****). Could this be due to an incorrect correct country code in the BT module? If it is I couldn't find it.;
  3. There is an empty square either side of the bluetooth symbol on the Maxidot display which, we think, should have some extra information in there (signal strength or maybe battery life?).

I can post a full VCDS scan if that will help anyone to help me to help him.

While you are here, what does the 'Developer Mode' that can be activated in telephone adaptations do? Is it like the 'secret menu' for the Columbus and Bolero?

Thanks.

Try giving Mike Holroyd a pm. Should be able to help you.

Turns out that the BT module we are trying to fit is just too new for the Bolero and won't communicate correctly with it!

The Maxidot issue seems to be due to an older SW but the dealer cannot upgrade it to a newer one...

The address book issues seem to have been resolved with a phone OS update and some rewriting of the numbers in the address book.

Watch out if you have an early Bolero as you may well be limited to older BT modules with less features.
