First long trip abroad--to south of France in a 1.4 TSI Elegance

Featured Replies

Not long got back from a holiday in France driving from the Wirral down to just beyond Toulouse in our 11 month old Elegance. Round trip of 2800 miles. Octy behaved very well, averaged between 45-50 mpg as indicated, average motorway speed 65 mph appx.

just the two of us, but we take everthing AND the kitchen sink when we go abroad to a gite! Needed to use the gears fairly often as Octy is a bit underpowered, especially with a good load, but generally no problems.

Used Intermarche supermarket petrol which was OK (generally use Shell V-power at home) except one fill-up at an Archan supermarket which seemed to give poorer mpg.

Octy very comfortable & already looking forward to going back next year! Drove down to Andorra (hairpin bends needed frequent gear changes), but with Famous Grouse & Plymouth gin at 8.75 euros a litre, it's worth the effort!

Cheers,

Jay Bee

In September my holiday mileage will not be too far off yours, round trip from North Yorkshire to the Czech Republic (Prague) 7 nights and stopping off in Germany for 6 nights on the way back, will be towing the caravan, so about 2,200 towing miles and all the other sight seeing mileage, including a visit to that famous car factory!
