VRS airbag light stuck on - latest problem

Featured Replies

After clowning around with every fuse and relay to see if I had lost power to anything other than my aircon, I now have the airbag warning light stuck on. When I start the car, it flashes for a few seconds then stays on.

I have scanned the car using VCDS and also an OBD scanner - no codes found - so whats gone wrong now. I need this car functioning perfectly asap, as I have a baby due in two weeks, and this is the family transport. Getting sick of the bloody thing this week!

Any ideas?

Check fuse F5. It should have a 7.5A fuse in it.

Can you see the airbag controller with VCDS?

Select Control Module 15 Airbag.

Fuse F5 is fine. Ran a full car scan using laptop and VCDS Lite which brought back no fault codes. Checked car again with OBD2 code reader - no fault codes. Airbag warning light flashes for 12 seconds then stays on. Only thing I can think to do is to check all the connectors under the seats - unplug then replug them, then try again. I think (but am not sure) that it requires a dealer visit to turn the airbag light off, since it isnt showing on VCDS Lite??

Anyone near you with VCDS full flavour?

With VCDS-Lite, you need to go into the airbag module, read the codes and clear them in there. Many ODB2 readers only look at the engine module.

If you can't see the airbag module, then the most likely cause is no power. In that case, go into Instruments 17 and see if there are any codes there.

You don't need anything more than VCDS-Lite to reset the airbag.

I get 'no response from controller' when I select either Airbags or Instruments. Running an Auto Scan generates no fault codes. Probably me doing it wrong.
