Is this common? ALH TDI 170k odd miles.

sometings when warm the oil travels back down and get a tap tap tap when started, then quiet. definitely just while oil is pumped to top of engine.

So I am wondering whether its worth changing valves and seals? ive done flushes and used lifter fluid etc but just same. Has been same for years just wondering.

Tried 10w40 semi and that stopped any warm engine triple tap, but lengthened the cold start tap time by a few seconds.

What ya recon? just leave it as she is running really well the now? she is quiet and powerful even when cold after that first few seconds

cheers mate ive not tried this one before. Is it one that has to be put in every oil change or does it last?

It lasts,put it once,it will clean the lifters.

Don't expect to take effect from the first minute.My V8 had 4 or 5 filters tapping loud constantly at idle and low rpm.After 200miles no noise what so ever.

I was more than pleased with this product.

ill report back my findings, can only help, mine only do it while its waiting for oil to travel up to top.

does the ALH have a check valve to stop oil dropping back down?
