Skoda 'assisted' my Yeti.

Featured Replies

Started the beast at home this morning, to be greeted by two yellow warning lights (the one that looks like an outline of an engine, on constantly, and the glow plug indicator, flashing) and maxidot proclaiming "Engine Fault. Workshop." Called Skoda Assist who sent a 'man in a van' within two hours (they first asked if I needed to go anywhere urgently, and when I said 'no' said that someone would be with me within three hours).

Man hooked up his 'pooter to Betty and said "give me 20 minutes or so". About half an hour later a knock on the door ... "Should be all OK now sir". Apparently the 'exhaust gases recirculation valve' had sooted up. He took it off, cleaned it out, put it back, and the 'pooter said 'fixed'.

Thanks Skoda Assist!

Do I remember you having an engine shaped yellow light come on just before a holiday? Was this the same thing again, or am I imagining things?

Yup, the engine outline light came on back in March. Can't remember what they said at that time ... but I'm watching it! I'm wondering if it has something to do with my driving pattern. When I start up in the morning the very first part of my journey is a first gear, half mile, crawl down a steep farm track. I've had problems with my MG sometimes, a couple of plugs getting 'sooty' after the same descent.

Actually I've done that a few times in the snow!

Was it the RAC who came out or someone local?.

It was a man in a van covered with "Skoda Assist" livery. Not an RAC van, but nobody local either.
