potential gremlins in the car :(

Featured Replies

Two small problems im hoping aren't major. So hopefuly someone can help me out :)

About 6 months ago I had to replace my brake light switch. After replacing it the brake light switch warning light (glow plug coil light) turned off. Recently however its started coming back on despite the fact the brake light works. Does anyone know if this light points to anything else?

My other problem is my front left sidelight has blown. Changed the fuse and the bulb and neither fixed it. Is there a common electrical joint which fails for this? Could water from the recent heavy rains and puddles have caused problems?

I'm not overly convinced my 'family mechanic' (who is really very good) adjusted the cam timing when he did the cambelt. I'm wondering if this is related.

Did you get a genuine switch? After market ones quite often fail after a couple of months

I went through 3 brie light switches, then found one of the old style ones from a 2000 Audi a3. No problems since

Well the switch isn't OEM but i believe its Valeo or Bosch. In theory im told it comes from the same factory. Wondering how much a genuine switch will put me back :(

Cost me a quid more than it was at eurocarparts went to a VW dealer and got the updated one
