tracking

Featured Replies

anybody have problems with there tracking i had two new front tyres put on today and when they took the right one off the inside of the Tyre was wrecked lucky i had it done or it would have blown out, so drove it into the garage and had the tracking done when they put the lasers on it was miles out and i thought this cause the steering wheel was slightly off to the right anyone else had tracking issues

I've had my tracking done when I got the car, about 2000 miles ago and mine was miles out as well. My fronts were worn on the outer edge. I went back about a week later and they checked the tracking again and was slightly out again.

Hopefully it will be fine now it's done.

yeah the guy said to me that all the potholes and speed humps are not good for the steering and suspension mine was quite bad cause the steering wheel was sitting off to the right

could be worn bushes too.

i find the only way to get the tracking done well is to do it take off the ramp and drive round a tad and then get it checked again to fine tune as they never get it right the first time due to the car needing to settle to the adjustments hence taking it off the ramp the puttine dack on.

Billy tracking is not always off because steering wheel is off centre. Someone may of removed steering wheel along the way and re fitted it wrong, but as it is you less likely.

You are right when getting tracking done a good garage will take car off ramps and drive car back and fourth and around the block to settle the settings as the tracking in the air may not be good with car on ground. Also tyres can effect this if they are uneven both sides, air pressure not the same etc. I had mine tracked as a 2 wheel drive Audi TT and the guy spent ages resetting / checking to get car to drive straight and perfect. Still a little off now as changed subframe bushes so keeping a eye on wear and getting rebooked in again soon.

i think you could be right about the bushes as it has done near enough 120000 miles and still original bushes will see if it continues to wear tyres

+1 bushes can defo give off readings on tracking , with that mileage i would replace those.

yup thatss old.

the play in them will be quite big.

good luck mate. sure it will be sorted.
