Low oil sensor

Featured Replies

I checked my oil today and yes I have been a bit too busy to check it before now.

The oil level was on the bottom pip of the dipstick, surely the maxidot should have told me way before that my oil was low?(oil can symbol)

My old 2007 VRs used to tell me just under half on the dip stick.

My current car is 2010 VRs diesel.

I checked the user guide and it should still be on the car?

Yes it should show amber colour for low oil and red for "too late there's non"

Cheers for that, seems there is an issue then. I will get them to look at it on the next service (2K miles max to go).

As it's White Dove I wonder if for some reason on the last service the plug may have been pulled out or other. I can't recall ever seeing the message on the CR but on the PD it was like every 6Kmiles.

Does anyone know what quantity of oil has to be present (or not as the case maybe) to get the oil sensor light to tell you to top up. WD seem to be struggling to determine if the sensor is faulty as it is emitting data but nothing stored in the errors.

how low is low??

I believe the low oil warning is basically a last resort "do not drive the car till it is topped up"

In other words pretty damn low.

OK, thanks. On the PD170 it used to be about a litre of oil to required when the warning came up. i left today happy that they were happy it was OK.
