Once again a noise i cant fathom, as follows:

On cold start up only! it starts very well, no tapping or knocking or smoke. But a second after its started this hissing type noise (best i can describe) it lasts for about a minute, then goes away abruptly almost like it is switched.... it just stops, and doesnt come back regardless of engine stop starts.

Only happens from cold start - car still drives, and all the rest of the time it drives really really well.

If anyone can help point me in right direction i would be much obliged

i think ive found the culprit through search function, SAI perhaps? it all points to the secondary air pump, i shall organise a disconnect asap, unless someone tells me its something different?

Sai its either the normal amount of noise or the pump is starting to split, in which case you take it off, drill the rivets and put bolts on instead.

Yip I second that mine is bolted but still sounds like a hairdryer on start up. But incidentally may come on briefly further down the road for a second or two which I queried as thought was a problem but apparently normal.

Mine does the same, almost sounds like the exhaust is blowing. I plan to get it off and replace the rivets with bolts.

Mine always sounds best when the pump is running as I pull away, engine has a nice growl. Shame it doesn't do it all the time lol

I have the same problem, Although i've removed my SAI system and mine judders from cold for a minute or so then drives fine. Really bugging me now.

The sai does my box in! What a stupid idea!! I hate my car from cold, you look like a kangarooing idiot! Just bugs me that much i floor it from cold which isnt a good idea, but im not too bothered about the car as a whole, ill drive it until it pops!

I know, what does it Actually do? Does it serve a purpose ? Seems that all it does is cause problems

I'm sure It's supposed to put warm air into the exhaust system to warm car up more quickly to cut emissions and wear. But like the egr valve its a nice idea,when new but once the car has been round the block a few times they are more problem than their worth.
