electrical fault

Featured Replies

sometimes, usually when switching off the car the instrument panel clock and the one on the radio resets, the radio loses all its memory so appears to be a complete power loss. anyone experienced a similar issue, I have a good understanding of general electrics but not specifically the electrics of this car, and I don't have much money I can throw at it anymore,

thanks in advance

Andy

well you will be happy to know its a popped fuse, have a look through them. Common issue, seen it on polos golfs and a passat

after this it may be a low voltage issue, battery would need replaced

fuse is ok, fault is intermittant only happens now and then and battery is fine was changed not long back and car starts fine

loose connection to back of offending items then?

Intermittent battery fault, start at the beginning, taking things off and back on. Battery cables, fuses and cables on top of the battery, and earthing cables.

Try them first and see if it makes a difference

If you don't have any problems with the engine, then check that the terminals on the bottom of the relay plate are tight. Check the earth point to the left of the relay plate. It should have a chromed, domed nut and will have brown wires running to it.
