Ethylotest Kits

Featured Replies

Anyone UK side interested in these, I now have access to some of these beasts and can probably post to UK for approx £6 for 2 inc postage!!

Let me know!

God its hot here almost above freezing!!

Ermm ....What is that

Quick edit:

Just realised it's the french tax the tourist breathaliser kit......

Yep, we know more about it than the locals. On our recent visit, we saw none, anywhere.

The law came in to effect July 1st, but I believe fines for not having one (or one plus a spare - in case you test yourself, pass, drive off, then have a heart attack, so your passenger takes over, after testing themselves...) in the vehicle will not be levied till Nov 1st.

Thats how I understand it also. Im off through France on Saturday to start my big trip so Ive decided just to grab some as soon as we arrive (or grab them on the ferry if they arent massively over priced!) Id rather have them even though they appear not to be fully enforcing it until November.

My thoughts exactly, but I wasn't going to pay UK prices (I am a true Tyke) and we never saw any in the Super U type places. TBH I then forgot, but as we only saw two patrol cars in the fortnight, we were probably safe.

Don't forget to disable your satnav French camera warnings. Have a great time :sun:

Rubbish!

I might have agreed, but ALL motorists in France have had (were supposed) to buy them too.

Mine and a friends were delivered via our French visitors this week.

Ok, these items are still like rocking horse droppings here in west finistere, the local gendarmes arranged a free distribution a couple of weeks ago, all gone within in 5 mins of starting, and not a small distribution.

Mine came from Conrad an electronic component outfit based around Lille(they were on special to account holders!!)

Now posted them off yesterday, total cost for post and 2 testers £5.

As regards a French Tax, think its more a 'get rich quick' scheme by the producer, who is the only accredited company ie with NF acreditation, who also lobbied the french govt for 4 - 5 years for the introduction of the scheme - bit like UK bankers I think!
