just bought my octavia 2007 1.9tdi PD with AXR engine, gearbox is in bits as bloke was driving without bottom shield, now has two holes in it and some teeth missing (thats gearbox not the bloke) ;-). original box was jdh with dual mass clutch. im looking to replace the gearbox and wondered what else would fit to that engine-EUH from ATD engine possibly . also thinking about putting normal clutch as the current friction plate is only about 3mm thick. price difference between dmf and standard clutch is about 200quid. any suggestions will be appreciated.many thanks

Err is it me or is there a massive hole in that gearbox?? lol

That is a very impressivly destroyed gearbox, never seen one with holes that big in it,

If its like vrs's then you can do smf conversion on same box as i did when my clutch died

cheers guys, conversion should be fairly straightforward, i found a lot of info on it. the big question is what other gearbox will fit to AXR without loss of top speed or 'holes' between gears?

i found this comparison between JDH and EGR.Can you explain to me in plain english wether or not the comfort and economy will change with EGR fitted to AXR engine. they look identical but have slightly different ratios. if i was to fit EGR to my AXR engine and then convert the clutch to SMW will it make it much worse?
