Power for in car camera

Featured Replies

Hi,

Has anyone fitted an in car camera to their yeti?

Is there a convenient power source near the rear view mirror?

Just toying with the idea at the moment but don't really want to have to trail a power lead down to the cigerette lighter socket.

Seek advice from the member known as Rockhopper who has two rigged up - front and rear - and has documented all the mods he's done to his yeti via his signature. It's also available in the "pinned" section at the top of the Yet forum.

He has some comprehensive and useful experiences to share that I'm sure will help you.

It's under the "How do I? (Yeti)" pinned thread.

Yes.

Check the link in my signature.

I used The Great Yeti's guide to provide power for a sat nav, which can be found in the Yeti Technical Section, which can be found by clicking on 'Skoda Yeti Owners' at the top of the page underneath 'Forums'.

Do go and explore the whole of Briskoda, there is a mass of useful information out there.

Don't just stay in the rarified area of the Yeti section, as lots of stuff out there applies to all Skoda cars.

Well actually George, My Yeti is documented in the 'Yeti Projects' section.

Whatever you do, be aware that leaving the camera connected to a PERMANENT live may flatten your battery!

Ask Mike!!

Sure does.

The DR300G cameras were fine, but the DR400HD will flatten the battery in about 36 hours in cold weather.

Not so bad in the warmer weather.

I disconnect my cameras at the end of every day. I generally remember to reconnect the next time I use the car.
