Vibrating.... NOT the good kind lol

Featured Replies

Hey

few weeks ago i noticed that the steering wheel was shaking on the motorway but i thought its the usual tracking or wheel balancing so thought no more of it althought its more of a shake rather than a vibrate.

anyways silly me still hasnt had this sorted but ive just come home off the motorway and its got quite bad, the steering wheel wobbles quite abit but the car feels like it is too, it feels unsafe at speed. I also noticed that it only wobbles when accelerating and goes away when i take foot off the pedal.

i think i can feel it through the gearstick aswell but im not 100%, that was just an after thought lol.

Ive not known balancing or tracking problem to be on foot down only, could it be something like a mount etc?

Could be, but I'd start by looking at tie rob ends

sorry should have mentioned that 4 months ago she had new track rod ends, arb links and brakes. i will check them again though incase they are dodgy lol :)

I've had both rods ends and ball joints fail in that timeframe

They where sold to me as genuine vag, came branded as 'merle' iirc :wonder:

LMAO oh dear! will get the crowbar out lol.

First and cheapest thing would be to check nothing is loose, possibly get wheels re-balanced?

+1

Had the wheels off recently? Check the bolts first

Do you have a whirling noise also? If you can feel it through the car/gear stick it could be a bearing/driveshaft issue. Car doesn't pull to one side whilst accelerating does it? If its not a loose wheel bolt or likewise I'd get it in a garage ASAP as it'll only get worse and cost more to sort in the long run : (

Could it be the dmf failing?

I have this atm but in the much higher speeds. Properly joule wobbling. I have recently had an issue where the brake carrier fell into the wheel and then the centre hub bolt came loose. Still chasing the problem. Re-balance is my next thing to do.

k had it up on the jack and theres no play in arb links, track rod ends, wheel bearings or engine mounts so il take it to local tyre place tomorrow and get the tracking and ballancing looked at and go from there :)

god i hope its not the dmf lol!!
