Sticking relay on compressor? (Climatronic)

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have during the last couple of months experienced that my climatronic sometimes work and sometimes not, so I went to a friend of mine to have a gas refill and we found out that the condenser was leaking, so that had to be sorted out first and so we did. Now it seems as if it is a lot more often that the climatronic doesn't work - after the condenser replacement. I can often force the system to work by pressing econ on and off for 5 - 10 times or something like that. This tells me that something is sticking, but why is it worse after the condensor replacement? Is there a pressure sensor fault or something like that? Possibly it could have been damaged during refill?

I have VCDS so if someone can diagnose from that, I can do all the logs...

Also I have heard about self diagnose, but all I have found is for the mk1 and mine is mk2 (1Z TFSI)

Thanks in advance

It's probably the N280 valve on the compressor sticking. VAG considers the valve an integral part of the compressor.

So no easy/relatively cheap fix? Is it possible to fix/exchange the valve or do I need a new compressor?

New compressor. And if it's sticking it's probably due to contamination in the system so will require a new compressor and a flush.

Sadly I think so also, but where to find it cheapest? Any suggestions?

They will have to have the correct equipment. They will need a station with the flushing fluid and the correct adapter to replace the expansion valve and adapters to mate to the pipes.
