N75 - N249 - Is there any benefit from removal?

Only my second post here and I'm sure that it's probably already been covered, but I'm just stuck in the middle of being able to work out the FACTS about this grey area?

I've seen a lot of posts claiming that this is a worthwhile modification, it regains lost and otherwise wasted boost, makes the car drive a lot smoother and changes the drive of the car completely.

On the flip side, I've also seen a number of posts saying that it's just a quicker way to total your turbo, others saying that there is no benefit from deleting the valves and that they are purely vacuum related and have no performance benefit.

I'm pulling apart the Octavia next weekend to do Cambelt, water pump downpipes and decat etc, so just wondered from anyone with experience - what's the truth?
