New suspension, which ones...?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Im looking to get some new suspension for my Octavia Vrs MK1, i wont go into much detail why, but iv seen a few on some sites that i think look ok, Im not looking to get anything expensive, just some that will replace what i currently have and also stiffen up the ride and also looking to get some new bushes all round.

the ones i have seen are mentioned below.

Any help would be much appreciated.

All your help would be fantastic

After replacing my cheap (VMAXX) coilovers this weekend with expensive ones (KW V3) I'd say save up a bit and get something better than the cheapest ones.

Weitec have a good reputation and aren't that much more expensive.

Cheers for your help Rob, But the Weitec seem a bit pricey, the cheapest i can fine start at about £380 for a set of GT coil-over, bit out of my price range i think..........

Any more suggestions????

Notice a significant difference, Rob?

I have just put a set of raceland coilovers on my octy vrs. They were only £165 off ebay. But you get what you pay for. They are a little bit bouncy but fit well and sit nice.

i got FK Highsports coilovers and you dont even realise its slammed. they are very very cumfy.

give us a shout if you need any help, could sort you out with some forum discount too :)

Do as rob says and save up n pay once!

You get what you pay for. Weitecs are perfect entry level coilies and well wort the money. They will last you well too. Like Rob have the v3 but i came from weitecs so the need to change wasnt as great unlike rob.

You get what you pay for.

Agree with billy on this one, I really need to fit mine! lol

There is not really any cheap good suspension kits for the VRS. The VRS is a fussy car unlike the Golf due to different weight and load across the longer car.

If you go coilovers then expect to pay upwards of £380 for entry level decent suspension. I Even think the FK coilovers are around £350 that some VRS folks are now switching to but not many reviews on those. You can look at sites like euro performance to get some views there and they stock all types for VRS.

Also you may want to consider none coilovers , but but the time you find a decent set you are paying more than a set of coilovers anyway. for example Koni FSD's with HR spring are best in class for none coilovers or Even Bilsten but again dearer than coilys.

Also be careful as some of those add's you listed although state for VRS are not correct as if you read the print will not fit cars where Drop link is joined from ARB to Suspension strut which the VRS does.

JOM seem to be the cheap alternative for users but not seen reviews on these for our cars so you take a gamble.

Think the message is you get what you pay for unfortunatley
