1.9 octavia diesel cam belt change

Featured Replies

Hi, in my service schedule it says I should change the toothed belt at 120,000km but there's no mention on time. I've read I should change it after 60,000 or 4 years. I have a 07 plate 1.9 diesel octavia. Can anybody advise me when to change the cam belt please?

Many thanks,

Rob.

Sorry, just realised I've put this in the wrong forum......but if anybody knows the answer, I'd still appreciate it!

Rob, it's now 4 years or 40k miles on the PD units. It's been revised down over the last few years. I've just had mine done and my belt was showing signs of wear consistent with needing changing at 4 years. Don't forget the tension (I always change that each new belt that goes on) and maybe water pump if it's the second belt it's had.

Don't know where the 40k has come from, I've never heard of that and I work in a main dealer. But 4 years is recomended. Mileage depends on engine code to be specific but the Skoda data sheet I have in front of me says for a PD engined 1Z Octavia is 74,000 miles (120,000km).

Tech1e, that's interesting you should say that. I have been somewhat perplexed at this very thing. But recently I had reason to get my belt done by my garage as the 4 years was up and I'm laid up with a serious knee injury so can't do it myself. Mine is a Fabia Mk2 I should say with the 1422cc engine in it. I had two dealers quote me 4 years and or the mileage limit of 40k. It might be different for my engine maybe but I was lead to believe it was the same for all the PD engines. However, I don't disbelieve you as there is often confusion on this subject. Hopefully Rob will pop back in for another look.

.

Fabia II diesel (all PD excluding 1.9/103 BHP TDi DPF) 4 years 74,000 miles (120,000) miles.

That's from the Service Advisor Cambelt Replacement Guide as published on Desktop, available to all dealers. Can't see why people get confused tbh, its pretty simple.
