VRS shocks, How far down can one cut the bump stops?

Featured Replies

Following my recent spring replacement with lowering springs, and the subsequent failure of my old shock absorbers, I have been very kindly organised with a set of vrs shocks that should provide much better damping on these springs.

Now as the drop was quite low the standard shocks were so close to stops that the car recoiled quite violently anyway. So two questions:

Are the bump stops lower naturally on vrs shocks than standard shocks?

How far down should one cut the stops to achieve reasonable travel and not foul horribly? Dont mind a bit of fouling, but dont want car ripped up or tyres.

Any pointers appreciated

Thanks

anyone?

Take spring out and see how far you have before it starts rubbing?

actually yes, that would have been rather simple eh? Im not normally the sort to miss that solution. I will be on it today cheers

Add atleast 2 to 3 cm, maybe more not sure how much they compress

well i just measure up 4 cm would give me enough clearance to stop it bouncing and thudding off em, but they will still cushion it just, giving me a wee rub on the inner arch as my wheels are a larger offset. at least ill be able to level up front to back as back was considerably lower, look like i had tired suspension not lowered hehe

Thanks RAF

No probs m8 glad I could help :D
