Skoda Rapid the proper octy Mk2?

Featured Replies

Was looking at pics of the Rapid and to me it looked more like the proper successor to the Mk1 Octy, ie not a fat thing with an Octy badge stuck on it like the Mk2.

Dunno what the exterior and interior sizes compare like to the Mk1

What do other people think? lol

I know what you mean, there seems to be hints of a mk1 octy in the shape too. I've always thought the mk2 looks like someone just enlarged various parts of the mk1 and stuck them on lol

Yes,it looks like the next generation of the mk1 octy, with sharp edges but looks very masculine, and I think it will be my type of car, simple, effective, cheap, and fast.

I don't know about the engines,I heard a lot of 1.4 petrols and 1.6 diesels....I know VW is making a 150 hp version of the 1.4 TSI,wich I think will be perfect.

Needs a 1.8t in it, wonder how long till someone fits one?? lol

There's already a quattro running gear going in a citygo

a quattro in a citygo....that's mad :strong:

There's no way for a 1.8t in the rapide, this whole downsizing trend is teaching us how to deal with small engines. The gold 1.8t era is slowly falling...it's a pity ,but must go on.We all loved the brilliant 1.8t

I drove last month my friend's golf GT 1.4 tsi 170 hp...is very good, and it's the new way ahead.

Look on the city go forum bit, under city go go I think.

Can't wait for the pics to start lol

Trouble with the smaller engines is they haven't much scope for tuning, they are near their limit as it is and asking for more power is already causing engine failures.

Rapid with vrs running gear fitted is the way forwards lol

Not bad at all.

I wonder what size those badges are?

Here's hoping they're 80mm :giggle:

So I guess I'm alone thinking it looks like the previous Renault Laguna crossed with a Vauxhall Integra then...

You guys all forgetting that our "beloved" Mk1's all look like Rover 400's in profile?

Sorry, I was referring to whatever the name of the abomination that replaced the incredibly dire Vectra is. I found it so mediocre I can't recall it's name.

That was it, Insipidia... sorry, Insignia.

It looks a hell of a lot better than the Vectra. The VXR looks quite tasty, IMHO.
