Have you done any checks yet,

in the area of the Discs, hubs, checked the brake pads and any wiring, brake fluid level.?

If you do your own maintenance then do your visual inspections untill someone that knows comes along

If you do not know anything about your car, then get a professional to check or at least to advise.

Dont mess about with the ABS or brakes if you dont know anything about it.

Car needs to be scanned with VAGCOM/VCDS

Do brakes still function ?

Hi sk4gw

I have checked the brake fluid level and seems ok however I will have a closer look in good light.

Hi Snow Muncher

Yes the brakes do still function i have not pressed them hard and not sued the car for work this morning as was sure.

but yes they do still operate

As said it need scanning to see what the fault it.

Throttle body or is it Maf? One of the 2 causes the traction control light to come on.

Sent from my Galaxy S2 not a Crapple!

Does your car have ESP ? If a yaw or accel sensor fails this will put on both the above lights (as they are currently on mine).

Hi Nitrovrs

Yes it does have ESP.

have you done anything to try and rectify it yet?

Errrm, yes... but unfortunately it won't help you as i fitted an r32 quick rack which effectively deletes ESP and have a manual controller for the rear diff (mines 4x4).

When i did look into fixing it though before my conversion i would have had to change a sensor in the control column according to what i read up.

Hope that helps.

My ABS Sensor on my old Passat pinged those same warning lights on

My VRS did this i cleaned the throttle body and new gasket within a day they turned off also my battery was on its way out which attributed to the problem

Both the ESP and ABS lights have come on in my Octy 4x4. But they are intermittant, could drive 10 miles and they'll not illuminate or within the first minute of driving they'll come on and stay on... I stamped on this morning to see if the ABS was working with the lights illuminated, this just left me with a nice set of skid marks down the field. I have been told that the ABS pumps are quite prone to failing (not sure how true this is) or is it more likely to be something else like the Yaw sensor or Throttle body?

As above, get someone to put VCDS on it. The most likely failure is a wheel sensor, but there are 4 of them. Then there are failure modes in the pump and ECU as well.
