suspension

Featured Replies

Hi guys some advice on suspension, I will be changing my standard vrs wheels for the octy vrs alloys in anthracite, and i want to solve the arch gap, i dont want cheap coilovers as they are too bouncy, any advice on what people are using whether its coilovers or shocks and springs

Cheers

What sort of driving do you mainly do? Street - fast road - track?

If you wont be doing any serious hooning, then you could get away with some Eibach Pro lowering springs. However, if you like anything like spirited driving they will give a crashy/bouncy ride

More serious option, and with decent arch gap reduction, have a look here

I like street with a bit of spirited fast road, I want something comfy, I like the standard suspensions ride comfort and handling just needs to be less arch gap

My point exactly!

How else do we all get to know each other?!?

Well prior to this car I had never lowered any of my cars so swapped my standard suspension for a set of coilovers to get an idea if I could live with it before I spent bucks on it.....got a 2nd hand set of KW V1's and I was impressed enough to shell out for a brand new replacement a couple of weeks ago.

Can't fault the ride quality (although have nothing to compare too... But if I ain't broke and all that!) and would highly recommend spending a bit extra and get a decent set of you value the ride quality

How would you compare the variants to the standard suspension, I've had cheap coilovers before and they were knackered about a year after, the kw's are definitely what I would be buying as I've heard nothing but good things about them

Naturally there isn't the same level of comfort, you can feel every bump in the road. That said, I don't find it unbareable and actually prefer it if I'm honest.

Car is more planted, doesn't drop to its knees when cornering like it does with the standard setup and the rear feels a lot less twitchy when braking from a decent speed, which I found when i put on the 312 brakes on....

There are plenty of othe people who rave about the KW's but I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Hope that helps

if u want standard comform with reduced arch gap then eibach springs are perfect.. if ur wanting to go low then decent coilovers like kw will be better..

eibach springs £120 new

kw variant 1 £500 ish new....

if u want pics of eibachs i ran them on my 17" wheels with 205/40 tyres... they werent low enough for me personally but couldnt fault the ride quality (i still have em incase i go back ;-)...)

Well yes it does roll quite a bit but it handles pretty good for standard, the 312 brakes from the octavia vrs? What size are the standard brakes on fabia vrs?

288 bud..

The Bilstein/KW combo is as comfortable as OE, but with all the performance you would expect, plus it redices the arch gap nicely.
