1st March 2013 Delivery ....... When to Order ?

Featured Replies

Ok, got told that if i ordered soon i could expect delivery about Nov/Dec ! Ok so given i am in no rush i may as well wait for a 13 Reg, so if i wanted one on March 1st i though i would need to order about Mid Dec...... this allows 10 weeks, would this be enough do you think ?

Also waiting till xmas or just after may mean there could be a few other offers on by then.

Ta.

You need to speak to the supplying dealer, only they will know, or at least give you some story..

Different Quarters for the year, sales figures etc.

2012-13 year for finance,

price changes, etc.

Car can be ready early & they will only Register it as a Feb 2013 type thing.

I have had a Salesman & sales manager say yes to ordering 16 weeks early, Order in November, 'Take a Deposit' & say that the Order is in!

Told all was well, allow 2 weeks Xmas break & deliver with the new Registration.

Then the HQ or Accounts Manager says 'no way'.

Turned out no Build Order had been placed, or even possible, because the Autoboxes were not even given Build Start date..

I was trying to get the details to Insure & Transfer my Registration, & there was no car.

I would wait for January 2013 to come, then see how things are.

? Would it be such a problem if it was 1st April untill you got it rather than 1st March. Thats 5 months away anyway.

Lots of family & personal issues can happen in 5 or 6 months.

When you order make sure the salesman puts on the order form you don't want it until the 1st March 2013.

This is what I do.

This saves the problem later of the car turning up earlier than expected and then the dealer trying to push you to register it on a 62 plate in late February under the 10 day rule they sometimes work to. There have be a few people on this forum caught out like this.

Your dealer will tell you how long the car will take, order a week or two early and it should be sitting there when the lucky 13 lates come out, ready for the new reg.

You may get a discount waiting until the new year to order, but remember that if prices are going up they do at the start of the year.

I don't know where you are based, but the forum sponsoring dealers are usually quite helpful and have a reputation to uphold on here. I use Preston Motors and they have alway been very accurate with estimated delivery times and on all three occasions they've have the car in two weeks before the new reg plates came out. On our Yetis the diesel had a seven month wait and the petrol a four, they arrived within a week of each other in late February and we collected both on the 1st March. :)

Cheers guys, i will do that. My local dealer said 8 weeks, so a Jan order would work out fine. The prices may go up i guess but given the current economic climate, increasing car prices would be like the turkey's voting for xmas. I will ensure though that the March 1st day it put on the order.... nice one.

Agreed with others if its put on the order form and signed off they should follow this. I was caught with the '10 day' registration thing (although my dealer say it was 16 days) but decided to take the car as I only ended up waiting 7 weeks from order to collection when others have/had at the time been waiting anywhere between 4 and 9 months.

Good luck

According to Skoda UK they are now quoting up to 20 weeks for factory orders

Might be worth sitting down with someone and asking them to enquire at Skoda
