1.4TSI-DSG Yeti confirmed

Featured Replies

Tbh if they've sorted the reliability of the engine out it will be a great combination...

They also talk about the 1,8tsi DSG which is not yet available over here.

Really?? It's a good news...

A step in the right direction and I think would be popular in UK but with Skoda UK'S current stance on limiting options don't hold your breath. At least they now have the parts bin to build them and supply them if they recognise the potential demand.

What is the reliability problem with the 1.4 Tsi engine?

I wonder if this will be the twin charged unit they used in some of the other VAG cars or a variable vane turbo that some reports have talked about. If its the twin charged as Evil Miyagi mentioned they need better consistency. There have been some horror stories on other forums on the full power version with high oil consumption and miss fires amongst the issues. Some engines replaced under warranty. The 1.2 turbo fairs much better reliability in cars available over here.

It's the 122BHP version which is turbo only, don't know if they have been ok reliability wise and whether it's just the 180BHP versions which have been unreliable?

Over on the Seat forum it looks like its mainly the 180 that was in the Ibiza Cupra and Boc versions. Interestling that the new facelift Ibiza 1.4TSI has 150BHP with the Cupra version not listed (yet) but maybe that will follow. The turbo only Ibiza is only available in the 1.2.

I think is for 1.4 tsi with 122 hp.

The 1.4 tsi 122bhp is what is currently available for the Yeti in the UK. I wouldn't expect a higher power version as they have the the 1.8tsi 4x4 over here. Still waiting for the DSG version though.

On my 15,000 miles per year a 1.8tsi DSG 4x4 might be cheaper to buy and run than the CR140 DSG 4x4, and be more fun with more revs to play with and more potential for remapping.

If the 1.2 had been available with 4 x 4 and DSG I would have had one without hesitation. The 1.2 in my wife's Roomster is an absolute jewel.

Having said that my new SE Plus 140 DSG with the Racechip tuning box is superb and showing 50+ mpg on mid to long runs.
