Correct way to fit PD injectors and seals? To avoid all the problems........

Featured Replies

My car is due to go back to Skoda this week to have the injector seals changed and injectors refitted, hopefully to cure the fuel in oil and oil in fuel.

I just want to make sure they do fit them properly this time so wanted a bit of info so I can tell them exactly how I want them to do it, yes teaching them to suck eggs but I`m determined to make sure they do it right even if they think I`m patronising them!

So far I`ve been told:

1: use special tool to remove injectors so to not damage quartz part of it.

2: Carefully remove/fit new seals on injectors

3: Grease injector seals

4: slide them in using special tool

5. Set them for correct opening with cam lobe etc...

New bolts etc. for new instalation of injectors.

Anything else or I`ve got wrong?

Cheers!

Pretty much got it. I have an injector fitting guide for the 1.9 TDI at home if you want a copy. Assume same torques and cam setup as the 2 litre PD as well?

No, the 2.0 is a 16v engine so two cams. Different rocker shaft and 2.0 injectors are held in with 2 bolts.

As long as they follow the instructions on ELSA then everything will be fine.

Kind of glad I asked now. :D

If only they`d done that the 1st time!

They showed us some of the pictures or returned injectors that we're deemed faulty after the recall, does make you wonder what some people do putting them in. Plus you have to be really careful checking them before you put them in, sometimes the seals aren't on the injectors right to start with. Pays to take a few mins and inspect them make sure everything is right. Think they recomend engine oil on the seals before fitting, grease can expand the seals.
