Questions about rear bulbs

Featured Replies

Evening all.

I had a brake light bulb blow on me today so while at Halfrauds, i thought I would check everything else. As a result, I have a question about the rear fog lights - should a Vrs have two rear fog lights? I changed a bulb - the bottom one in the left hand light cluster (duel filiment) as it wasn't lighting when the fogs are on and it still doesnt work. It does look like it should be a duel filiment bulb it that part.

Any ideas???

Chris

There's no wire for the light on that side either, just some odd function added by skoda for left hand drive cars?

There is only 1 rear fog light intentionally to avoid any confusion with the brake lights - 2 lights = brakes, 1 light = foglight.

Just link a wire across from one side to the other.

Brakes = 3 Lights

Fogs = 2 Lights - Showing the vehicle width

Fog = 1 Light - Could be a Motorbike

DB.

Would it send canbus into a spaz?

It's not wired due to right hand drive / left hand drive where on the continent fog and reverse lights are on opposite sides to uk when there is only one of each.

There is nothing wrong with wiring it up so that you have two ( my last car proton satria gti had two from factory)

Needs wire from driver side cluster + connector on passenger side cluster. Bit about fog/reverse not strictly true ,as Fabia has two fog positions and two reverse positions . ( Leastways mine has).

Yes has two reverse light in use but only drivers side fog as this is the furthest from the kerb. A lhd car would have the opposing fog position in use is this would be the furthest from the kerb.

Fabia doesn't use can bus for lighting.

That clears that up. It does seem a little weird that they wouldn't just wire it up and have two dogs across the back but I "kinda" understand the LHD/RHD reasoning. As stated, it should be two as shows vehicle width but that's my 2p.

Will wire the light across from the drivers fog light :). Thanks guys.

nowt wrong with connecting up the one for the offside, just link the wires for the brake and pop a twin filament bulb in. Nothing in MOT says you can't have two fogs either.

For all lighting? So putting hid lights in, or led lights will be ok, just have a bulb warning light?

You will have to find some way of making the connection on the lamp connector,as ( from memory) there's no connector from the lamp strip to the lampholder.

I connected mine up this evening. Took a spare wire from an ISO stereo adapter I had lying around, that snapped in perfectly...

The bulb holder connection was fine, and the bulb was already dual filament... Just the wire missing from the plug...

Had a look at mine some time ago and although there was a connector on the lamp holder, the plug on the connector was missing.

See my post above, I opened up the connector and put in a spare one from an ISO stereo lead I had kicking about. Works perfectly.
