noise from front strut

Featured Replies

Ever since I had my Yeti in May this year there has been a sound like air being expelled under pressure, from the offside front strut, under certain conditions, such as going over speed bumps, at low speed I might add. There does not appear to be any oil leakage. Is there any cause for concern?

Chris

I think this may be normal, I hear it with the windows down over speed humps at low speed probably caused by the movement of the oil transfer in the shock absorber as it compresses and then expands (cavitation). It should be from all of the shock absorbers but I guess you'd hear the one nearest to you loudest (off side front) however if in doubt pop into the dealers to check.

+1 it is normal operation.

+2 normal.

Mine does it on the Humpback bridge, near our house, when the front suspension unloads.

I had assumed it was a shock absorber compressing - and hoped it was normal - I get it over speed bumps.
