ALL the lights when ALL of the doors are opened?? A problem with a single door not triggering the lights is usually down to a stuck or damaged microswitch; these are usually hidden behind little rubber covers on the door pillar.

If it is just stuck, giving it a prod is usuually enough to get it going again, but take the time to remove the rubber cover and dose it with WD40 or similar, then wipe off the excess and replace the rubber cover.

There are no door pillar switches on the B5.5. The lamps are operated from the CCM under the passenger seat and the switches are in the door latch mechanism on the doors.

The problems are nearly always caused by water in the wiring loom joints and/or the CCM and also broken soldered joints on the microswitch pins in the door latches. Sometimes the wires under the rubber boot between the door and the "A" pillar will break under the insulation. A VAGCOM scan is useful in sorting these problems out.

A clearer explanation of the original fault would be useful.
