NeroVision Express is ok at this - a bit limited in the button shapes and layouts but it is quite cheap.

Should've said it comes with Ahead Nero Burning ROM

Try Ulead version 8 you can do all sorts of things with it. Or, if you really want to go professional try Adobe pro 6.5

I used Ulead DVD Factory (I think) but it wouldn't play nice with DivX encoded video.

Windows movie maker should do some of that and if you have XP you have already got it

must admit i didn't think of windows movie maker, i have been trying with nero but it will only do it with cd's and not dvd's. not sure what programs my bro has, will go and look later at what we have

Nero should recognise a compatible DVD recorder and give you the option to do stuff with DVDs - if you use the SmartStart applet there is a drop-down box in the top centre which gives you the choice - otherwise just select Make DVD from the NeroVision menu.

not sure what version of nero it is but the only options from nero express i had for dvd's were dvd-rom, dvd video and dvd audio but for cd's i could make vcd, svcd, cd-rom and audio cd
