I have finally taken the plunge and ordered a SE DSG Estate to replace the wifes C5. I know that the car salesmen get poor press, but when dealing with indecisive women I'm sure there are times when they like to throw them through the showroom window!! In the past I have known what I wanted and just ordered it makes life easy.

The Fabia will be white with sunset glass, fog lights (added to replace the black inserts as the make the front look nicer) and side protection strips, and the abria? wheels - all the wifes choices.Delivery is expected to be about November time, but I'm not fussed as the C5 has MOT and Tax to next June.

I got a good deal when checked against the web dealers they still could not match the basic price, surprisingly two dealerships in the same group competed against each for my custom! Even with forces discount the dealer came in lower than forces discount dealers.The salesman said it would very much like to have it traded in before the 3 year point - it will do less than 8K miles a year so would be good resale fro them.

I will post some photos when it arrives, hopefully it will provide many miles of trouble free motoring for the wife and kids.

Well, the car has arrived and been delivered. I was expecting it to take longer to be delivered being a DSG version. With kids it has been lifeshined so spills and the likes should be easily dealt with. It is to early to say how reliable it should be, but seeing as VW use this powerplant and gearbox I don't envisage problems that have been reported on the web with the DSG 7 gearbox which seem to be related to the higher output engines. The wife is no speed merchant either, so it should give many comfortable miles. I will try and post photos in the next few weeks when work allows.
