Never use a heat gun on your grille :(

Featured Replies

Set about the task of removing my grille for colour coding today, had some trouble getting the badge off and so decided to use a heat gun to warm it up and loosen the tape on the back.

Discovered that the plastic under the chrome coating has a very low melting point and essentially "boil in the bagged" the grille and totall buggered it :(

Anyone got a FL chrome surround they want to sell me?

Ron

I was going to put in a sarcastic reply.... Then I thought nah I'd probably have done same.

Good luck with the grill :giggle:

Thing is, the badge is also made of plastic and that had the direct heat applied and didn't melt, the plastic inside the grille itself is way softer :(

mine fell of when i shut the bonnet one day

I have a fl chrome grill surround to sell if you want. Pm me.

I used a heat gun all over my grille to wrap it in vinyl. Not once melted it in the slightest

You mean grille a grill is what you cook on; ah you did that :bandit:
