Front right fog light

Featured Replies

I realise this has been asked a few times, but I've read so many threads through searching and I still haven't found my answer!

I have a 2006 MkII Octavia VRS, the front right fog light has failed and I'm trying to change it. I've bought a '708 H8' bulb as per the manual, taken the small section of the front grill off, and removed the rear cover for the fog light unit. Past that, I'm stuck.

The bulb in the fog light unit feels nothing like the bulb I've bought (is the manual correct?) and I can't work out how to remove the bulb that's in the unit - I can feel the wires but not an easy way of disconnecting them.

Please can someone advise, preferably with pictures? I've got an MOT coming up very soon and I need to change the bulb out.

Thanks in advance!

My manual states H8 bulbs but it's actually fitted with HB7's. That's on a VRS.

Aha, I've looked up the HB7 and that looks more like the bulb I felt, thanks. Now, how do I remove it? (I'm hoping I don't need to take off the undertray & bumper!..).

It's explained in the owners manual, see below.

The front fog lights are not part of the MOT test and aren't checked so it won't matter if you haven't had time to swap out the bulb...

Isn't that the guide for the Facelift version? I don't have the same fitting or bulb in mine (and there is no explanation in my manual, I checked, checked, and checked again!).

I have confirmed with the MOT tester that it's not a requirement for the MOT, which is a relief (thanks), though I would like to get that warning light off my dash. :)

Yes, but the front foglights on the pre-FL and FL vRS's are the same.
