Re-Remap of my car over 100k miles on standard clutch + turbo

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I bought my car with somesort of a remap on it anyway. Car has always felt slightly sluggish, and now that i've sold the 2 seater convertible this is my only car..

Was thinking about remapping it again, but with a reputable supplier. Nothing crazy....just make it a lot smoother.

Ptorque is only down the road. So I'm gonna give them a shout...

Car just ticked over 100k. Anyone here advise against a remap at this mileage? Is 175bhp too much...

What about Torque? Under 300lbft should be fine right?

Thanks

I'm on almost 120k. Still on original clutch. Just don't go crazy on the torque. I'd say 270/280.

Depends on who did the original map, some companies used to replace the engine chip rather than flash by OBDII, so if its one of those on there now then you'll need to replace the chip on the ECU circuit board as well.

If flashed via OBDII then some tuners block reading certain parts of the ECU, so the new mapper will be unable to read the current ECU data to modify it.

Most maps are usually the latter of those two, and you may have to find someone with a factory ECU file to effectively return the car to standard tune before it can be remapped again.

As for mileage, I would not worry as there are plenty of mapped cars on the forum with over 100K miles. You should be safe with a generic stage 1 map.

Mannyo, think your refering the the ECU's on the 1.8T's. Not come across a EDC15P thas been locked. Even if the eeprom was replaced it will still be readable over OBD. However some campanies lock the file from being read in the editoring software so the tuner would need to either get past this or start again from a orginal file.

My car was repapped at Jabba to 177bhp and <300 torques the day after i picked it up at 40k

It's sailed through 120k now and the clutch hasn't ever cried enough.

The turbo was stated by Unit18 as being "not the best" but no isigns of it giving up the ghost yet (that said i snapped up a cheap KKK just in case)

Will at performance torque is very good mate would recommend them to every one
