MAF diagnosis, is this supposed to happen?

Featured Replies

Ok so i have read on here that if you are having running issues, unplug your maf and see if things improve.

Right so my car seems just a little flat and of colour, not running badly or anything.

So on unplugging the maf the car has no power at all, no boost - runs fine but slow as hell.

Im lead to believe this shouldnt happen? Most people get preset setting that makes car run fine with boost etc.

So why does mine have no boost with maf unplugged? Is it supposed to do that? Im told it shouldnt, but no fault codes and car otherwise runs well.

1.9 tdi ALH Non pd lump 90bhp

Thanks fellas

Do you have the torque app or vcds

yup, no codes

Leave the maf plugged in and do a log of the values, you should be looking at a smooth curve. Not sure what figure is should pull on the derv.

My 1.8T maf was on the blink, it drove fine until 5k, at which point the line on the torque maf reading started flying up and down, as did the boost.

well i coulnt see any problems on torque, no drop offs......BUT..... bought a second hand bosch maf for £10 off ebay, and......... the car is flying now, better than ever. This means the delphi maf i had bought was working but not quite there.

cant believe how good it goes now, knew it wasnt quite right
