Fabia Vrs Or Octavia Vrs?

Featured Replies

Looking at buying one of these soon, I have owned a Fabia vrs back in '05 and enjoyed it, had it new totally standard.

What are the pros and cons of both cars?

Is one engine more reliable than the other? im looking at both Tdi

I will be looking to get it mapped etc.

Thanks.

You can't get a MK1 Octavia vRS TDi, MK2 are meant to be nice but the PD170 is prone to ****** injectors iirc.

Thats what ive been reading, probably safe to stay with Fabia? and get it remapped?

The duff PD140/PD170 injectors should be swapped out on a recall on any engine code now, I believe. So there's no reason to avoid them purely on that basis.

If you want a bigger car then go for the Octavia. Otherwise I would say fabia all the way.

Im still torn to be honest, may try to find a fabia already mapped and sorted with coilovers etc as im too lazy to get stuff like that done! May badger one of you lot to sell up lol

PD170's mean dpf issues, various techies warned me away from them. CR170 however is much better, just means buying nearly new. If you can't afford one then I'd go for the Fabia tbh.

If you need the space you could always find a mk1 octy Tdi pd130 and get it mapped.

If the looks are important you could always pick up some vrs bits

Hmm may be an idea, is the suspension the same etc? as on the vrs?

I think it sits slightly higher than the vrs, but can easily be dropped.

My brother has an Octy elegance estate which is coming along nicely. He's upgraded to a set of Leon Cupra R seats, lowered the suspension 30mm, fitted a Full Miltex exhaust system and had it mapped. It drives really well and has plenty of space! Almost enough for a mini party in the boot :-D
