Always been a Ford fan, had about 25 but I have to say £65k is a ****take.

It's rarity as an Imprezza Type RA will drive better, go harder, break down less and cost well under £5k.

Beautiful condition but only for a collector, you would not want to drive for fear of devaluing it

Lovely example, daft price & the phrase 'stolen to order' springs to mind :wonder:

My Dad had an insurance customer who had bought one of the early rwd cossies. He couldn't insure it so wrapped it in plastic and had it stored in his garage. It's still there as far as I know.

There was such a 500 out near Letham.

(I think he could have insured it for the road if he wanted,

& the rest of the collection in the A/C'd Tattie Shed)

Much nicer than the one in the Link,

& even more rare than it.

What makes it more rare/nicer?

It was a '500' built to race & it did not, it had more BHP (It came straight to the wealthy owner from Ford)

& it was in a solid blue paint. (i hope it still is.)

Seam Welded, lighter. The cage was removed before it was delivered i believe .

'Nicer/rarer'

Or maybe not, if it is no more.

Looked at a mint white one a while back, again stored up by the guy in question within his garage set up & as far as I know there it remains. Strikes me as a great shame that many just remain hidden away when the great joy must be the driving experience. My sister in laws husband has an absolutely mint red Lotus Esprit turbo in his garage, never used and under 10k from new

Might well be, he had money but I don't remember if it was from offshore or what.

It was homologated for racing:

The Cosworth RS500 was announced in July 1987 and was homologated in August 1987.

The main difference to the Sierra 3 door Cosworth was the uprated Cosworth competition engine. Its new features were [2]:

The engine had a thicker walled cylinder block to cope with the rigours of the track.

A larger Garrett T31/T04 turbocharger.

A larger air-air intercooler.

A second set of 4 fuel injectors and a second fuel rail (unused in the roadgoing version).

The fuel pump was uprated.

A reworked induction system to allow higher power outputs to be realised.

The oil and cooling system were both also uprated.

The rear semi-trailing arm beam had extended but unused mounting points.

The RS500 also had minor external cosmetic differences to its parent the Sierra 3 door Cosworth:

The rear tail gate had a lower spoiler in addition to the upper whale tail, which had an added lip.

Discrete RS500 badges on the rear tail gate and front wings.

A redesigned front bumper and spoiler to aid cooling and air flow, including the removal of the fog lamps and their replacement with intake grilles to supplement brake cooling

Exactly 500 RS500s were produced, all of them RHD for sale in the UK only - the biggest market for this kind of Ford car. It was originally intended that all 500 would be black, but in practice 56 white and 52 Moonstone Blue cars were produced .

Better not buy this then!!!

Car for sale @ £65,000. Market place = Ebay. FAIL. Nice car if you like fords. I dont. Anyone who pays this kind of money for a ford is the end of a bell.

I'd want the registration changing to "KEN 151T" for that money.

Can't agree as a GT40 would be in my top ten cars of all time. The RS200 isn't shabby either.

Cossies have a bit of a dodgy image but having watched them dominate saloon car racing, I'm a big

fan of the early hatches.

I'd suggest that a real GT40 (including GT mk2s) is really a Lola with a Ford engine.
