Is there a cheaper alternative to Hammerite

Featured Replies

Am currently building a car trailer, now its getting quiet alot of chopping and welding done so once finished will require painting,

I painted my little tip run trailer with hammerite after having it sand blasted and its quiet good but car trailers going to be quiet abit bigger and at 15 quid a tin its going to cost me a fortune especially painting it every year,

Just wondered if there was any alternatives out there that people have discovered

you get what you pay for..........

Well its primed with red oxide primer at moment till we finished welding rest of it as i think hammerite seems to stick better with some sort of undercoat on it first

Powder-coating?

RS do a 5L tin of Hammerite for £65

Red Oxide, then black paint

RS do a 5L tin of Hammerite for £65

hammerite is cak tho, nowhere near as good as epoxy mastic stuff, or POR15 for that matter.Hammerite was much better a few years ago, they have changed the recipe to make it more enviro friendly

Only pointing out a cheap(ish) price, not making a comment on it's suitability nor quality.

no probs:> didn't mean to sound funny! just going on personal experience as have tried all of the products i mentioned, afterall last thing you wanna have to do is repaint the trailer every year due to cr*p paint!
