Super unleaded

Featured Replies

Was running on air yesterday and needed petrol urgently. Found a garage but they had run out of normal unleaded so I filled up with super unleaded. The car seems to be more responsive. Am I imagining it?

Its a 2.0 litre petrol.

By the way, wasn't sure about the black carpet, A pillar,B pillar and door sills. But I quite like the look now. It is refreshingly quite modern. What do you think?

Interestingly, having been following the topic of Super-Diesel, I have filled up the my V6 with Esso 97 RON Super unleaded the last three visits to the garage and whilst I see no discernable different in fuel consumption, I feel the car runs smoother and quieter. It's hard to say it's more responsive as it goes like stink anyway but when someone was sitting in the car the other day they asked whether the engine was running - it was, they remarked how quiet and smooth it felt.

Funny you say that...I sometimes get out of the car forgetting to switch off the ignition coz I cant hear anything! No big deal, but not the thing to do when filling up at the petrol station!!!

My carpet and pillars are just like yours and having seen the totally Ivory colour, I much prefer mine too.

A few days ago I posted on the Octavia forum in reply to 1.8 tsi best engine ever or some such claim.

I agreed with all the praise of the TSI but claimed that it was far better under super unleaded petrol. Noone can prove this by feeling or perception but I swear it goes over my garage lip(1 1/2 inches high) on idling torque better than on 95 octane.

As most Superbs have high performance petrol engines, I would be easily convinced they need high performance fuel. I suppose this old debate could run forever.
