Cosy insurance club mysteries

Featured Replies

Getting out of my Trade Policy as I no longer need it.

TRYING to obtain a decent quote that includes a NCD has proven to be an absolute nightmare.

WHEN you eventually get through on these 9p a minute rip off 0845 numbers, having listened to all the usual talking as slow as possible s**** for 4 minutes, you eventually get through...after another 5 minutes of greensleeves or some other such crackly distorted crap, only to be told, "sorry, trade policy currently? No NCD for you then"

My 'phone is looking battered with all the slamming of the receiver it's received.

However, that's one rant, the other is not so much a rant but a statement of great puzzlement.

Finally got L&V to quote me WITH NCD, but the Fabia vRS was actually £5 cheaper than the wifes old and nearly worthless Getz.

Group is 5 digits lower on 4 too.

When I asked how that works out then, he said that they don't go on insurance group ratings!!!

I was staggered.

Just what is going on within these massive corporations?. Do they just make things up as they go along?

Do the insurance rated catergories actually have a purpose or meaning, 'cus I'm absolutely and torally baffled and mystified with the whole set up now....or p'raps that's what they want...treating us all like mushrooms.

Is it any wonder the majority of us actually hate and despise them?

Club insurers, we all have a ring back service. We can work work with trader claim free experience as well.

If you have trade NCB, this is not the same as private car NCB. For the purpose of obtaining quotes from companies you just tick computer boxes on, and unless you hold you own private car NCB, you have 0 years NCB

Now you see, even that ^^^ is baffling, well to me it is.

Club insurers? I think you've misunderstood me.

I was being sarcastic, and referring to insurers generally being like a cosy club for the privelidged, not trying to obtain ferret owners club public liabilty quotes!

The second paragraph wasn't much clearer either tbh.

Trade policies do not attract NCD...at all, even though you might not have actually claimed in its duration.

This wasn't explained to me at the outset, that you actually lose ALL of the NCD that you may have proudly built up over 20+ years like I did.

Fortunately Liverpool and Victorie seem to be the exception, but just how many fruitless calls did it take ey?

Even brokers were of no help and simply advised me to 'ring around'

Any input on the insurance group ratings mystery would be appreciated too.

I would have been happy that i had gaining from the advantages of a 'Trade Policy' for all those years,

& if it assisted you in your transportation needs for gainfull employment & financial gain

& also allowed you to never need Private vehicle insurance because you had Business use cover,

it seems a bit off to now complain about insurance costs or the system.

You seem to have done well for 20+ years of possibly saving on Insurance premiums.

You must have done regular renewals of your Trade Policy, did you never ever read the T&C's ?

Having your cake and eating it comes to mind.

*Long clean driving record documented , named driver on anothers insurance,

& over 37 years old, how much can that cost for Insurance even without a NCD?*

I seem to remember some previous posts about using a Car type vehicle instead of a Van.

If that was to be Work related, then that probably requires any insurance proposal to declare the purpose

of a vehicle for the use of your work/employment & thats rather different from just SDP or SDP & Commuting.

I think you've misunderstood what I meant by 'Club insurers' - I was referring to the Briskoda affiliated club insurers.

It's fairly common knowledge that you'd lose your private car NCB after 2 years and trade NCB is separate to private car NCB.

Insurance groupings will vary between insurer, there is no set list. Insurers use their own statistics for vehicle groupings.
