Good Value?

Featured Replies

Due to a change of job I'm in the market for a new car ASAP.

I originally went to the skoda garage to look at an octavia, but saw the yeti and I like it a lot.

Ordering one is pretty much out of the question, due to time, but I saw this 2.0 elegance:

Is this good value?

Not bought a car if 15 years, as have had company cars and am a bit out of it! I need a reliable fairly efficient car and will be looking at doing 25k per year min

It's six months old with 10k on the clock and only a few grand cheaper than you could get one for new with a bit of a discount.

Problem with the Yeti is, they hold their money too well so nearly new cars are not the bargains that other models are.

No doubt it's a good car, but I'd want to know the engine power. It could be 110, 140 or 170.

If it's not mentioned I suspect it's the 110, which is the least powerful of the 2.0 diesels.

They still perform acceptably though.

Just bear in mind you'll save much more on a nearly new Octavia, if that is what you are comparing it against.

Thanks for the reply, it's a 110, I believe.

Ideally I'd like a yeti urban, but it's finding one in time for my new job (start in mid nov), that said I do like leather and the elegance does look good.

Do you think there's much room for me to get a grand or so off?

It is a 110. All silver on the 'TDI' badge.

It is a 110 2x4 if you look through the other tabs on the page, I have the 110 4x4 and find its has plenty of power for normal driving, as bossfox said the yeti is still holding it value very well so cheap ones are hard to find.

Maybe.

If it's of interest remember the Elegance and DSG Yetis have ESP.

It's optional on others, but Urban spec does not have it.

So if ESP is a consideration, this has it and an Urban doesn't.

Not hugely fussed about ESP, but maybe that's cos I drive like an old man these days.

I'm in a bit of a pickle really, in that I need a nearly new reliable efficient car - might see if I can get an octavia vrs blackline, but really like the yeti!

There's a yeti 110 bhp 4x4 se in my local skoda garage showroom, new and £20,000 . In white, just like mine.

Where's your local garage?

I'm going to be doing a fair amount of miles so I think I'd rather not have a 4x4 tho.

The FWD version (110) of the 2.0 diesel is about the same power as the 1.6 Greenline, which is cheaper to run. This is because the 110 does not use the engine capabilities of the larger unit.

The better diesels with more power only come in 4X4.

If you don't want 4x4 and do a lot of miles I'd get a Greenline, or an Octavia. Both of which will be cheaper to run.

My local dealer has a Greenline sitting in the showroom, but I'mnot sure of the spec, SE or Elegance.

Preston Motors in East London. (They sponsor this site)

Think I need to nail the dealer down about what is available at short notice.

I've not seen any 1.6 diesel available used at all.

I updated my post above, my dealer has a 1.6 Greenline sitting in the showroom waiting to go.

I'm sure they'd do you a deal on it. I've bought 7 cars there in the last 2 years because they are good.

Not bought from Preston Motors (yet) but I've been in touch with Lee from the dealership a few times, well worth giving him a call.
