ChrisRs Detail...BMW X1

Featured Replies

This car was in pretty good nick really

However it was used on the school run and was marked in a few places

My mate bought it from a BMW dealer a couple of weeks ago and they had made a nice job of cleaning it up...but not to the best standard

I have a few pics and thought I'd try to give a label to the pictures as I progressed...Mate had to be back home in 3 hours so..I wasnt going to be able to work slowly!!

The usual decontamination with clay bar was left out ( I need some more )..the paint really didnt need it anyhow..some correction in parts where the car had been driven into hedges in country lanes...but just decided to use a cleaner polish on most of the car(CarLack68) and an LSP of Collinite 845.

Inspection time..Pretty good really

Wheels were just dirty..no baked on dust

Further inpection revealed a few scratches on the rear door and the front bumper was heavily scratched by roadside hedges

Liberal spray of APC, then Snow Foamed and door shuts, badges cleaned with a detailing brush

Car was then rinsed and washed with two bucketsand Megs Gold Class Shampoo .....rinsed again

dried with this:

Once dry I set about polishing the scratches on the rear door and the front wing...I used Scholl S17+ via my DA and a MF polishing pad but could have made a better job with a more aggressive polish.

The car was then machine polished with CarLack 68 and waxed with Collinite 845 by hand.

Wheels sealed with Optiseal and tryres dressed with Megs Endurance Tyre Shine

Finally finished by cleaning all the glass and vacuuming the interior and the mats

Here is the result:

Thanks for looking

You did a good job but the bonnet especially needs claying , to get Justin to be remotely interested in car care is some achievement, whose is that lovely blue vRS in the background
