The default email client on my galaxy note is slow, buggy and generally pants.

Depends what mail service you use?

I just use Gmail and the gmail app works just fine.

Yahoo and Hotmail have their own apps too.

I use k9 and find it pretty good.

What didn't you like?

You can add accounts to the Gmail client. I use the default android aosp client, dont know if the Note has that.
