Adjusting Coilovers

Featured Replies

My Fab Vrs has a coilover suspension fitted ( I didn't fit it) so don't know what coilover kit is on it either.

Anyways, I want to increase the ride height for winter and the sake of my front splitter.

How do I go about this ?

You will need at least one C-spanner to wind the spring seats up with the adjustable collar. It will usually be locked in place using small allen key grub screws or possibly a locking ring. Best to look at the dampers for a brand and check for guidance online.

Might be just as easy to find some standard suspension (can be found for less than £50) and fit that for winter as the coilovers will more than likely be seized up if they havent been protected, and un-seizing them usually means taking them off anyway

ideal, I'll go back to standard suspension, any idea on the best place to buy it ?

Alternatively, if you are raising the suspension anyway then you could give the whole lot a good coat of some kind of protection. There are coilover sprays which can be used to keep things from seizing, or even just use waxoil. Put it on before running up the adjusters so it gets inside the threads, then another coat after you have adjusted them and you should be fine. Maybe just a quick check midway through winter and a recoat if needed. Will be much less trouble than having to swap all the suspension over.
