I've been lurking for a while, but thought i should introduce myself.

I'm Rob, and I own a 2002 Octavia L&K 1.9TDi with 143k miles on it. Bought it in June in Birmingham with 136k on it.

Some years ago (1996) I had a Felicia 1.3 which was written off. The insurance company replaced it with an GLX demonstrator from Renshaw and Newsome in Nottingham as there were no new ones left available at the time! The little car protected us occupants really well despite being so bent that you could get your fingers between the door top and the roof post-crash.

So you can imagine I was fairly confident that a newer, bigger Skoda would be a good choice for a cheap family car and so far I haven't been disappointed.

As always with a cheap car there are plenty of things that work intermittently/never but I'm gradually working through them at the moment.
