Loose engine bay seal

Featured Replies

Hello all,

its only a minor problem..............but near the bulkhead the seal keeps coming off/loose/detaching

please find pics attached for a better understanding

Would a new seal fix the issue? or is there a way to help prevent this from happening

many thanks

I had this on one of my cars after a screen change, I ended up using Super Glue, it has not moved since, much cheaper than a new not required seal.

Funny that, mine did have a new screen a year or so back I think.

Any ideas on what type of glue you used? Was the really runny clear stuff or the thicker stuff like tiger seal?

Thanks for your input mate, appreciate it

Mines done this too, I just pushed it back on and it's been fine AFAIK.

Just the thin stuff, I just ran a bead of glue on the leading edge of the bodywork and pushed it back on, left the bonnet up for about 40 minutes to let it dry and hey presto!

ISTR the seal has an L shaped lip to it. It takes a bit of manipulation to get it to seat properly. I remember wrestling with mine when hoovering tree bits and crap out of my scuttle drains.

The part of the seal that grips the panel may just need closing up a little. Alot of seals have U shaped metal bits embedded in them that allow it to grip the panel, the end of the U has likely opened up a little.
